- VSG’s Professional Services Team is delivering a major ICT Organisational Uplift Program project with Defence to build and uplift their ICT systems and support organisational elements within the Defence and the National Intelligence Community!

Join Vertical Scope Group’s (VSG) Professional Services Division today, as we’re inviting TSPV cleared ICT professionals to join our award-winning team in delivering upcoming Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capability across the Defence and the National Security Community.
We are looking for driven and highly skilled, security cleared professionals with various levels of knowledge and experience to work in our Canberra team, supporting our Defence and National Intelligence customers. The ICT uplift team will be working on a broad range of activities which includes expanding the existing network, computing systems, complex gateway services, cloud services, mission services, data management services, and deployable systems
This is a rare opportunity to join team VSG and if selected, you need to be TSPV cleared or have reinstatable PV (held in the last 12 months).

All positions being currently sourced are for our Canberra based team and require active or reinstatable PV clearance. Positions include:
Security Engineer
- Develop and operate IT security systems, this may include next generation firewalls, intrusion detection, web application firewalls, content filtering, API security, DDoS protection, proxies, endpoint detection and response, network detection and response, user behaviour analytics, vulnerability scanning, secrets management, identity and access control systems, application whitelisting, device control, Public Key Infrastructure and encryption solutions
- Review current system security controls and implement remedial actions
- Develop and operate systems to monitor and analyse security logs and event information
- Develop and operate systems for security automation
- Guide technical staff on implementation of security controls
- Support, plan and conduct test and evaluation activities for deliverable systems and products
- Provide support to the Technical Leadership; and Other tasking/activities as reasonably required/directed by Commonwealth PoC.
Security Analyst
- Perform analysis of system security based on a threat driven approach
- Analyse threat intelligence for system specific threats; Monitor security events and information for security incidents
- Develop and use incident response plans and playbooks
- Analyse security vulnerabilities and propose solutions
- Review current system security controls for vulnerabilities
- Develop procedures to monitor and analyse security information and events; Guide technical staff on implementation of security controls
- Demonstrated experience working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) as a Security Analyst;
- Experience using Splunk Enterprise Security
- Experience with Network Detection and Response (NDR) platform
- Experience with a Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR) platform
- Provide support to the Technical Leadership
- Other tasking/activities as reasonably required/directed by Commonwealth PoC.
ICT Security Advisor
- Experience identifying and applying security controls to large scale, complex capabilities and/or developing ICT Security analytics
- Design ICT Security policy and documentation, and implement practices, technologies and governance
- Analyse and assess ICT system security documentation and configuration, including the use of vulnerability assessment tools
- Undertake an ICT security threat and risk assessment
- Work closely with other security practitioners to ensure that a capability has architectural security principles applied during design to reduce risk in the operational capability
- Develop strategies that implement information control requirements for a capability that proactively assess and address the impact the controls may have on the capability’s business strategies, benefits and risks to operation of the capability
- Develop advice and guidance on the requirements for ICT Security controls for a capability, in collaboration with client's security authorisation authorities and ICT Security SMEs
- Outline your experience in ICT Projects in an ICT Security Advisor capacity
- Outline your experience performing Cyber Security risk assessments in an Australian Government context by referring to the latest Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Essential 8 Maturity levels
- Provide support to the Technical Leadership; and Other tasking/activities as reasonably required/directed by Commonwealth PoC. .
